Register for your fast, and find resources on how to have a successful fast.
In the Bible, we see multiple examples of God’s people entering into seasons of fasting. Fasting is abstaining from food that we need or enjoy for the purpose of intense spiritual focus through scripture and prayer. Fasting with prayer can be a powerful tool to help us draw near to the Lord.
While practicing this spiritual discipline with focus and care is important, it is also important to keep the righteous heart-posture. Fasting, like giving and prayer, should be done in secret - meaning not for recognition or affirmation from people. Rather, it is an act of worship to the Lord when we sacrifice our wants, needs, and desires and seek him instead. Fasting is not just about “not eating.” It is about not eating WITH Jesus. When hunger hits, it is a physical prompt to pursue the Lord in prayer.
Note: Fasting requires reasonable precautions. If you have any health concerns, please consult your physician prior to beginning your fast, especially if you are taking any medication, have a chronic condition, or are pregnant/nursing.
