Why we give
At New Beginnings, we believe generosity is a natural and necessary response to the gospel. God gave His first and best in Jesus—and so we bring our first and best back to Him. As a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus, we view generosity not only as a gift from God but as a means of transformation—shaping us more and more into the likeness of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
God Is First. God Went First.
In the beginning, God created all things (Genesis 1:1–31). Long before we ever moved toward Him, He moved toward us—demonstrating His love by sending Jesus to die for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). Jesus is the firstborn over all creation and holds first place in everything (Colossians 1:15–20). Because God is first and went first, we bring our first and best to Him (Genesis 4:2–5; Matthew 6:25–34).
Generosity Reveals the Heart
Jesus taught that where our treasure is, there our heart will be also (Matthew 6:19–21). Money is not our ultimate issue—it’s a mirror that reflects what we truly value. When we give, we expose and uproot idols, allowing Christ to take His rightful place as Lord of all (Matthew 6:1–34).
Our Hope Is Eternal
We give because our eyes are set on eternity. We are not living for temporary treasure, but for the eternal reward of knowing Christ and making Him known (1 Timothy 6:6–19; Matthew 6:19–21; Luke 12:13–21).
We Trust God's Provision
Generosity is a declaration of trust. When we invest in God's Kingdom, we are choosing His economy over the world’s—and saying with our actions that we believe He is our provider (Mark 10:17–31).
We Are Conduits of Grace
God enriches us so that we can be generous on every occasion. Our generosity becomes a channel through which others experience God's grace and respond with thanksgiving (2 Corinthians 9:11). And it is only by His grace that we are able to give at all (2 Corinthians 9:1).
We Are Gospel-Driven
We give because Jesus gave His life for us. The gospel compels us to live surrendered lives—including our finances—as we respond to the extravagant love of God (2 Corinthians 9:1–15).
Giving Is a Joyful Privilege
We don’t give out of guilt or obligation—we give because we get to. Generosity is a privilege rooted in joy. It is an act of worship from hearts that have been transformed by grace (2 Corinthians 8:1–9:15; Luke 18:9–14).
